Quiksilver will be organizing the last skateboard contest of 2006 on December 9th in Shanghai. Along with the assistance of the Chinese Extreme Sports Association, Quiksilver welcomes all skateboarders to join the skate jam, located inside the South Building of the ??展?中心。 The event will kick off with an amateur competition for all non-professional riders. Then there will be a professional skateboard demo presented by the Quiksilver European Skate Team, and finally there will be a Best Trick Contest open to all riders. Calling all skateboarders!!! The Quiksilver Winter Skate Jam is the first and only skate contest of the winter season don’t miss out!!!
All amateur skateboarders are welcomed to join the skate contest, and will have the chance to compete for prizes and cash totaling more than 5000 RMB. The contest will be judged by a panel of professional skateboarders: ?霖, 付林超 and Johnny Tang. The Best Trick Contest will be open to all skaters, and will be held on different obstacles throughout the street course.
The Quiksilver European Skate Team of Dominik Dietrich from Austria, Conhuir Lynn from Ireland, Ross McGouran from England, Daniel Cardone from Italy, Jesus Fernandez and Manuel Margreiter from Spain will be attending the event to give a professional skateboard demonstration.
The main star of the show will be Quiksilver’s Daniel Cardone, who is still riding high after taking 1st place at the 2006 Quiksilver Bowlriders Competition in Sweden. The Bowlriders is the biggest bowl riding competition in the world, and sees such big name riders as Tony Trujillo, Omar Hassan and Rune Glifberg. In 1999, Daniel started riding concrete at local parks in America, and from that point on he “fell in love with concrete.” Since then,Daniel Cardone has been ripping concrete parks and street courses all over the world. When asked about a moto for his life, Daniel states, “peace, love and skateboarding.” He’s a happy guy as long as he is standing on a skateboard.
Two other great skateboarders attending the event will be Ross McGouran from the UK and Conhuir Lynn out of Ireland. Both skaters have risen to success as skateboarders out of the rough environment of Western Europe. Ross is becoming known as one of the best riders out of London; even the rainy weather and expensive cost of a skateboard hasn’t kept him down. Growing up, Conhuir Lynn had to deal with horribly unsmooth roads and no skateparks. But people say he one of the best three flips in skateboarding. Both guys will be ripping up the course during the 2006 Quiksilver Winter Skate Jam.
The 2006 Quiksilver Winter Skate Jam is made possible through the assistance of the China Extreme Sports Association.
